Brookfield Swimmers Dominate New Milford

It was all business at the Dive Shop Aquatic Center in Brookfield Tuesday night, where the defending Class M champion Bobcats trounced the Green Wave in a dual meet. Brookfield swept all events, taking first in every single one. With the win, the Bobcats improved to 4-0 on the season.

In the 200IM Relay, Brookfield swimmers took an early lead, taking both first and second place. They carried this momentum into the second event, the 200 free, with Alex Duffield and Peter Lazorchak taking the 1,2 spots, respectively.

Jeff Ragatz and Christian Ferrarie also scored valuable points with a 1,2 punch in the 200IM.

Brookfield also had a large contribution from the underclassmen of the team, with young guns like Nick Merkle taking first in the 50 Free and Greg Krentsa taking second in the 100 Free. "This meet was a great opportunity for some of our young guys to step up at a meet. We really need them come postseason if we are going to defend our title," said Head Coach Brian Reiff, who was quite pleased with the performance.

The team also dominated the diving portion of the night, with senior divers Sam Baluzy, Danny Dixon, and Matt Delia taking first, second and third. Baluzy also had a notable dive that scored two 8.5's and an 9.

"It was a great team effort considering we put people in some off events," said senior captain Daniel Krentsa after his victory in the 100 Fly. He also signaled that the team has considerable depth, and can do considerable damage in this year's postseason.
