Which Wars Did Local Vets Serve In?

Mapping the number of veterans in town and which conflicts they served in.

While we look at the number of veterans in each town on our quest to find the most patriotic in Connecticut, we're also looking at former service members by which war or conflicts they served in, from pre-WWII through to the Second Gulf War.

For most of the state’s zip codes, the single largest pool of veterans served during the Vietnam War only, though there are a few pockets with significant populations of WWII and Gulf War II veterans.

The map also shows the number of retired soldiers who served in Korea, Vietnam and the First Gulf War, as well as those who served in multiple conflicts and in between major wars.

And be sure to check out the rankings of towns with the most and fewest local veterans as we begin our search for the most patriotic town in Connecticut.
