Lake Lillinonah Boat Launch Reopens Wednesday

Renovated boat ramp also the first state launch area equipped with information on zebra mussels.

The Lake Lillinonah boat launch — just on the other side of the bridge on Route 133, in Bridgewater — is having a grand reopening Wednesday afternoon, including a ribbon cutting ceremony with Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Commissioner Rob Klee.

Closed since last fall for renovations, the new state boat launch features many improvements that made it more accessible and easier to use for launching boats.

The ribbon cutting will also include a demonstration of the proper way to clean a boat after use to prevent the spread of invasive zebra mussels.

Zebra mussels were discovered in Lillinonah in 2010. Ongoing education and awareness will be provided at the boat launch throughout the summer.

Lillinonah is the first boat launch in the state to receive a decal reminding boaters to “clean-drain-dry” their boats to prevent the spread of aquatic invasives.
