Halloween Postponed to Saturday

Officials are asking people to postpone trick-or-treating in the wake of October snowstorm.

Legislators have starting next year, however this year, nature stepped and made it necessary.

With 75 percent of Brookfield still without power, just under 6,000 homes and businesses, town officials are asking residents to postpone Halloween trick-or-treating to Saturday, November 5.

In the wake of , fallen trees line the roadsides, protruding into the roadway in many places, and .

“For the safety of Brookfield children, the First Selectman, Chief of Police [Robin Montgomery] and Superintendent of Schools [Anthony Bivona] recommend that Halloween trick-or-treating be rescheduled for next Saturday because of darkness, ice, lack of power, downed wires and downed trees,” First Selectman Bill Davidson said Sunday night.

Kidz Korner Thrift Shop is open until 6pm today and has treats for kids in costumes. Everyone be safe trick or treating on which ever day you chose to celebrate.

Park and Recreation's annual 5K Halloween Race has been changed to 11/6.
