Oh, Baby! Your Town's Birth Rates

Database breaks down birth rates town-by-town from 2006-2010.

Spring is officially here and with flowers preparing to bloom and animals waking up from their winter sleep, the world is fertile and ready to burst into life.

With youth and renewal in the air, we decided to look at Connecticut birth rates, town by town, over a 5-year period between 2006 and 2010 (the most recent year with data available.)

The state Department of Public Health (DPH) maintains records on “vital statistics” that include the number of births per year per town (based on residency, not the actual birth location) and birth rates weighted against population.

The database above contains information on average population, birth rates and number of births from 2006-2010, as well as individual charts for each town showing total number of births by year.

Go here to see which towns have the highest 5-year average for birth rate and which bring up the bottom of the list.
