Traditional Hand Crafting Workshops for CT Children ages 8-18!
Brookfield Craft Center announces their campus on the banks of the Still River in Brookfield, CT will be the location for several FREE, no experience necessary workshops to run mid May through mid June 2014.
The workshops, whose goal is to bring traditional hand crafting discovery workshops to local children, are funded through a Connecticut "Arts Catalyze Placemaking" grant received by Joanne and Bruce Hunter - artists and owners of Danbury's Fine Arts school The Art Spot. The Hunters, also recipients of a Connecticut Commission of the Arts City Canvases Initiative award for their public art mural, “Cool Waters” in Waterbury, chose Brookfield Craft Center’s studios as the site for these activities.
These sessions offer a unique opportunity for children to work side-by-side with craft artisans in an introduction to various traditional handcrafts within the Craft Center’s studios, where the Hunters are members of the Board of Directors.
