Ridgefield Library reaches fund-rasing goal

The Ridgefield Library has successfully completed it’s goal of raising $15 million in private contributions toward the construction of it’s new building.

That money will trigger the release of an additional $5 million -  the town’s contribution toward the new building -  library director Christina Nolan said.

The new library is now being built at the corner of Main and Prospect Street. It will replace the town’s cramped and outmoded library, while keeping and renovating the historic Morris building that faces Main Street and which will be incorporated into the new building’s design.

Nolan said the library has incurred additional costs of about $2.5 million  for the project’s costs that include permit fees for the construction of the new building and the costs of relocating to its temporary home on Governor Street.  Nolan said the library is continuing to raise money to pay for those expenses
