New GED Assessment for 2014

The layout and administration of the GED test will change on January 1, 2014. The new 2014 GED exam will only be available on a testing center computer and will last 7 hours as 4 subjects are covered instead of the usual 5.  The majority of the test will remain multiple-choice questions, but there will also be evidence-based writing as well as a more comprehensive assessment of knowledge.

Due to the fact that the current GED exam will be phased out in 2014, those who are currently studying for or taking the GED exam must finish by the end of 2013 in order to avoid having to study for or take the new GED which will be vastly different from the current system.

Online registration is available on the GED website and more information about the change can be found at www.GEDtestingservice.com. Please send all questions regarding the change to GED2014@GEDtestingcervice.com or directly to Maureen Wagner, CT Acting GED Administrator, at Maureen.wagner@ct.gov.
