Closing Ceremonies Mark an End to Successful Celebration at HHES

Huckleberry Hill Elementary School in Brookfield held Closing Ceremonies for their International Celebration on Friday afternoon. These Ceremonies marked the end of a two-week long period during which students spent time learning about different countries and the Olympics.  Each classroom was assigned a country to research and created a bulletin board displaying the results of their research.  Students participated in activities highlighting different countries during their specials classes and experienced winter "Olympic" events during Physical Education.

At the Closing Ceremonies, the students and their families enjoyed cultural displays and games.  Those in attendance were treated to a performance by a children's Portuguese dance troupe with members ranging in age from 3 to 14 years old.  One of the youngest members of the troupe is a 2nd grader at Huckleberry Hill Elementary School.  Children were also able to once again participate in Olympic style games.

The International Celebration was organized by Mr. Cheris, a third grade teacher.  Ms. Olivier and Mr. Cudney, Physical Education teachers, organized the Olympic games and staff members and families volunteered their time and efforts to help make this event successful.
