Community Corner

Brookfield Cares and Newtown Parent Connection

Brookfield Cares, a community based organization dedicated to promoting Social and Emotional wellness in the Brookfield Community in collaboration with Newtown Parent Connection presented the Parent Empowerment University Saturday March 22, 2014 at the Newtown Middle School.

One of the highlights of the program was Bruno, a Police Dog with the Brookfield Police Dept., who, with his handler, Sergeant Jeff Osuch, demonstrated obedience commands, search for contraband, and discussed tracking and finding missing persons. The question and answer period which followed, was very lively with the children asking many questions about Bruno’s adventures as a Police Dog.

The purpose of the Brookfield Cares Coalition is to educate the public and address issues concerning substance abuse, depression, suicide and other public health concerns among our youth. For information contact “www.brookfield-cares.org
