WDMA Seeks Artists

The Westport Downtown Merchants Association is seeking artists for its two annual art shows, ART ABOUT TOWN and the 40th annual Westport Fine Arts Festival.  Applications are now being accepted.

ART ABOUT TOWN provides artist exhibition opportunities in the windows of stores and restaurants throughout Westport's downtown shopping district.

Shops and restaurants donate window and floor space and will stay open late for an Opening Night Street Party on Thursday, May 23. Main Street will be closed to vehicular traffic, creating a continuous gallery of art and entertainment. Art will remain on display from May 23 – June 16.

Event jurors will consider any media, including sculpture; all works must be available for purchase. Applications are due by March 22.

The Westport Fine Arts Festival will be celebrating its 40thyear on July 20 and 21.  The Festival is one the most popular art shows in the area and is a highlight on the calendars of collectors from New England and Manhattan.  The show takes place along the beautiful Saugatuck River and attracts thousands of visitors each year.

Applications are being accepted in: Oil, Watercolor, Photography, Mixed Media, Printmaking, Sculpture, Drawing, Glass, Ceramics, Fiber, Jewelry, Wood, and Digital Art.

Original works will be chosen by a jury of experienced artists, working professionals, and local community members. Applications are due by March 18

Please visit www.artabouttownwestport.com or www.westportfineartsfestival.com for applications and event details.

I would recommend supporting an increase similar to Ridgefield's which was under 2% (1.97%). If aRead More community like Ridgefield can perform at high levels with an increase under 2%, the Board of Education, in asking for almost twice that is openly admitting that they have installed inefficient management in school administration. Further, the sewer system on the referendum will require municipal funding since it is backed by the full faith and credit of the town of Brookfield and reduces the town's borrowing ability - the advertisement for which indicated it would not impact municipal funding.
