Brookfield DECA Keeps Taking Care of Business!

The Brookfield High School DECA Chapter has again made it to the International Career Development Conference, this year in Anaheim, CA! After completing one of DECA Inc.'s THRIVE campaigns by planning and participating in three community outreach, three school outreach, and three alumni outreach events, at least three students will be eligible to attend the trip this April. Thirty-seven other students will be competing this Wednesday at the Aqua Turf in Southington, CT to compete against other students from all over the state for their chance to make the trip as well. Last year, Ashley Neal placed 2nd in the state in the Hotel Lodging Management Event and was Brookfield's first top 20 finalist internationally in Salt Lake City. This year as a senior, she hopes to place first in state and top three internationally. Newcomer Cassie Burdick is running for CT DECA State Office as well as competing in the Apparel and Accessories category. Brookfield DECA has many repeat competitors as well as several new faces and we expect to come home with several new trophies Wednesday night. Look for updates on Twitter @bhsDECAadvisor on the 27th and a full report on the Patch after the competitions.

BHS DECA will be hosting the student-run 2nd Annual Fashion Show on March 1st at 7pm in the BHS Auditorium to raise funds for the trip to Anaheim. Tickets are only $7 for adults, $3 for kids (3 and under free.) Come on out for a great night including the latest fashions, talented student performances, and a raffle of great prizes from local businesses! Hope to see you there!

I would recommend supporting an increase similar to Ridgefield's which was under 2% (1.97%). If aRead More community like Ridgefield can perform at high levels with an increase under 2%, the Board of Education, in asking for almost twice that is openly admitting that they have installed inefficient management in school administration. Further, the sewer system on the referendum will require municipal funding since it is backed by the full faith and credit of the town of Brookfield and reduces the town's borrowing ability - the advertisement for which indicated it would not impact municipal funding.

The short answer is because they want to. If you spent twice at much they still would. EducationRead More personnel need to be monitored on social media like Patch.
