9-11 Flag Tree Memorial Vandalized
NEWTOWN — Acrylic craft paint was squirted across a Dodgingtown flag memorial created in honor of the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and lights illuminating the landmark were destroyed sometime during the overnight hours, police and Howard Lasher, the owner of the property said.
"When – not if – the police catch the people that did this, I will do everything that I can to make sure they are prosecuted to the full extent of the law," Lasher said. "This is not just the tree. This represent what thousands of people who lost their lives for."

Naugatuck Woman Accused of Beating Teen
A Naugatuck woman was arrested Monday on allegations of abusing a teenager over the course of a year.
Police took M’lissa Ruelle, 32, into custody from her home on a warrant charging her with third-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, risk of injury to a child, cruelty to persons and disorderly conduct.

Panera Bakery Cafe Opens In Southbury Plaza
Panera Bakery Cafe opened it's doors Monday for the first time in Southbury.
Inviting aromas of cinnamon and warm baked bread greeted the first patrons who arrived at 6 a.m., a full half hour before opening. They wanted to be first in line to check out Southbury's newest eatery.

L.L. Bean to Open in April at Danbury Fair Mall
L.L. Bean will find a niche for their outdoor equipment and clothing between the Cheesecake Factory and the entrance near Macy's at Danbury Fair Mall in April.
Leon Leonwood Bean founded the store in 1912 with the Maine Hunting Shoe. Today it is opening stores across the country. It has 33 stores or outlets in ten states, including stores in South Windsor and Orange, CT.

Jury Finds Canfield Guilty in Stabbing of a Monroe Woman in Texas
A Texas jury found Nicholas Canfield, 25, of Knapp Street in Monroe guilty today of stabbing his live in girlfriend with a butcher knife then violating a protective order by going to her place of employment and leaving a notebook on her car. Law enforcement says he had written to the victim, telling her he intended to rape her before killing her then himself.
