Santa Schedules More Early Deliveries in Brookfield

Fire department extends Santa Visit fundraiser two more days.

After 30 successful home visits this weekend, Santa has decided to spend two more days in Brookfield delivering presents to local kids with the help of the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Department (BVFD). On Tuesday and Wednesday this week, Santa — Brookfield Fire Marshal and Assistant Chief Wayne Gravius — will be stopping by Brookfield homes on a BVFD fire truck, surprising youngsters with a bag of toys for under the Christmas tree.

This weekend’s visits were the first of a new annual fundraiser for the fire department, an idea the BVFD got from the neighboring Water Witch Company in New Milford. According to BVFD Secretary Sara Ellis, the first weekend was a huge success and the department will be offering an additional 16 visits over two days this week.

Visits will begin at 5 p.m. on both Tuesday and Wednesday and interested residents can sign up anytime before 3 p.m. each day. (Contact BrookfieldSantaVisit@gmail.com to sign up; cost is $50 per visit.) After signing up, parents will be contacted by a member of the department to set the time for the visit and work out how Santa will pick up the gifts beforehand.

They came to our house on Sunday and our great-grandchildren had a blast. We were very impressed how accomodating they were with showing the fire engine, etc. and taking time for picture taking. Three cheers for the Brookfield Fire Department - they're the best!
