Updated: Powerless Brookfielders May Have to Wait Until Next Thursday
CL&P says estimates are for 100 percent power and many residents may have electricity back sooner.
While parts of the state remain completely in the dark and Connecticut Light and Power (CL&P) continues restoration efforts, almost a quarter of Brookfield remains without power. Of those approximate 1,820 homes and businesses, some have been advised that they may not see electricity return for another week.
The power company’s website states that Brookfield should be fully restored by 11 p.m. Wednesday, September 7, however Brookfield residents checking the restoration schedule through their accounts have been told they may have to wait until September 8.
“We were told we would not have our [power] until September 8 on Stonybrook Road,” resident Leigh Scarlett Fortin wrote on the Brookfield Patch Facebook page. “I am beyond annoyed!!!”
That projection is “when we think 99 to 100 percent will be back up,” CL&P spokesman Ashley Duncan explained Thursday. “We expect that many of them will be back up far before Wednesday.”
Duncan said that she was not aware of any issues specific to Brookfield that would cause added delay, though she stated that CL&P is “expecting those restoration times to go down,” and encouraged residents to continue checking the website and call-in number for updates.
Lake George Road resident David Propper said when he checked the site early Thursday morning restoration for his street wasn’t expect until 12 a.m. September 8, however by later in the day that was pulled back by 15 minutes, officially putting his home in the September 7 category.
“I think they’re just overestimating,” Propper said Thursday afternoon.
“Really, we’re just asking for people’s patience,” Duncan said, noting that, as she looked around her office in New Britain, a large number of her coworkers would be going home to residences without power, too.
“Most of the town… has power back. We don’t and it’s just a transformer that happens often, so it’s not a big job,” Johns Road resident Lenore Castellano Fox said in an email. “They’re telling us we may not be restored till the 8th, there’s no reason for that!”
For Brookfield residents suffering through the wait, showers and facilities are available at the YMCA on Huckleberry Hill Road, fresh water is available at the fire stations and police department (bring your own containers) and internet access and plugs to recharge devices can be found at the library.

The areas of Obtuse South have power now. Charter cable in the same area also came up this afternoon. Glad it didn't take another week.

You should send an email to the first selectman so they are aware of this and make the CL&P officials aware.
From the Brookfieldct.gov website:
Is your home on the list? Below is a list we compiled earlier today of all streets that have outages. This list has been shared with CL&P. If your house is without power and not on one of these streets, call my office Friday morning after 8:30 a.m. If you can access the Internet, it would be better to send me an email: firstselectman@brookfieldct.gov
