It is fantastic that Brookfield High students will be getting training on iPads. The vast majority of research is already done on-line by our kids. Computers are part of their way of life and learning, and this will continue to grow. This is 21st century learning and technology. I am glad we are recognizing and supporting our kids in this way.

I think providing students with iPads is a terrific, but I have a few concerns regarding security. I hope that they will be taught to protect their identity (personal and financial information online) as well as their reputation on social media, which can follow them for years. This is an issue with internet use in general, but parents will be less able to monitor their activity on the iPad.
I think the experience of using collaborative software will be extremely valuable, more so than learning to use an iPad, which is a breeze (my four year-old can do it).
