Grab & Go: Teen Fun, Crafts and Live Shows

Fun activities for every day of the week.

 

With sumo wresting, campfire stories and live performances to choose from, keeping the kids busy and happy will be a breeze. Check out the family friendly activities, every day this week. 

  • Teens can suit up and try out Sumo Wrestling at the Brookfield Library tonight (Tuesday). Ages 12-14 are welcome to participate from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. and ages 15-18 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sign up online, by phone or at the check out desk. This event will be held outside and spectators are welcome.
  • Let your kids explore the many benefits of yoga at Pediatric Therapy Associates in Newtown. Cathleen Clark hosts this Yoga for Kids class for children with typical or special needs. Kids will learn new poses and increase strength, flexibility, balance and coordination. No weekly obligation. Class is held on Tuesday, July 5, at 4:30 p.m. and is designed for children ages four and older. Call Cathy at 203--270-1370 for more information. Your first class is free. 
  • S'mores Stories by the Camp Fire will be held Wednesday, July 6, at the Brookfield Library on the north lawn.  Listen to stories, light the camp fire and make s'mores. This event is free, but registration is required. Parents must stay with their children for the duration of the event. Stories and fun for ages four-seven will be held from 6:30 p.m to 7:15 p.m and ages eight-11 from 7:45 to 8:30 p.m.
  • See the Summer Safari, a part of the Free Kids Summer Concert Series at P.T. Barnum Square. Presented by Ultra Violet Productions, Bethel Chamber of Commerce and Bethel merchants, the Wednesday night series includes puppet shows, kids' karaoke and dancing. Free, all ages welcome 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Bethel Town Green in Bethel.
  • The Danbury City Fair will continue this week from Wednesday, July 6, through Saturday, July 9, at the City Center Danbury. Families can enjoy rides, games, carnival food and a Kiddie Land for the small children. The fair opens at 5 p.m. weekdays and 1 p.m. on Saturday. Free admission and parking. 
  • Head to Michael's Arts and Crafts on Thursday, July 7, and let the kids create Australian Themed Crafts while learning about Australian culture. This event is free and runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Appropriate for ages three and up.
  • Bandstand Stories with Mrs. Santi will be held on July 8 at the Town Hall Bandstand. Kids ages four and up are welcome to come hear their favorite stories at 6 p.m. This event is free and a part of the Summer Reading Program.
  • Older kids call create something special at the Bandstand Crafts session on Friday, July 8, also at 6 p.m. Appropriate for ages seven to 11. Also held at the bandstand at Town Hall.
