Grab & Go: Music, Dance and Stories by the Lake

Eight family events to add to your calendar this week.

 

This week is filled with entertaining activities for tots, kids and teens.

  • Teen Movie Night at the Brookfield Library will feature Whale Rider. Teens can also sample New Zealand cuisine while watching the story of 12-year-old Pai, who is convinced that she is a tribal leader and sets about to prove it. Tonight, Tuesday, July 12, at 7 p.m. in the community room. Register online or at the check out desk. 
  • Move It! Join the summer reading program's dance class for kids ages seven to 11 at the library. Registration is required. Call Donna Crane at 203-775-6241 for more information. Class starts at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13.
  • Bring children ages three and older to Michael's Art's and Crafts on Thursday, July 14, to participate in a variety of French-themed activities and learn about the culture of France. They'll create an impressionist style painting and make a little French craftsman. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is free.
  • Little ones can Take a Break with Mrs. Santi at the Town Beach on Thursday, July 14, at 12 p.m. Story time is appropriate for children ages three and older.
  • Teens ages 14-18 can make South African Bracelets at the library on Thursday, July 14, at 4 p.m. Registration required.
  • Take the whole family to enjoy a night of live music and dance at the Concert in the Park at the Brookfield Municipal Center. Bring a chair or blanket and a picnic dinner. The show starts at 6:30 on Friday, July 15. 
  • The Brookfield Theatre for the Arts presents Joseph & The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat a musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber based on the story of Joseph from the Book of Genesis. Performances are scheduled for July 14, 15 and 16, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online.
  • Bring the kids by Kidz Korner Thrift Shop on Sunday, July 17, where from noon to 3 p.m. the charity thrift shop will be hosting Kidz Day, with free snow cones from Classy Catering and Creations, a Fun Factor Inflatables bouncy castle and surprise gifts while supplies last. Also expect a special visit from the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Department.
