Grab & Go: Crafts, Concert in the Park, Movie by the Lake
Ten family activities to add to your calendar this week.
This week is packed full of great entertainment for teens, kids and the whole family. Most of the activities are completely free.
- Michael's Arts and Crafts is hosting a Passport to Fun Event focusing on Japan: Foam Printing Block & Origami. On Tuesday, July 19, kids ages three and older can explore their creativity and learn about the culture of Japan in this craft session. Suitable for ages three and up. Event begins at 11 a.m.
- Teens are invited to the Henna Design Event at the Brookfield Library on Tuesday, July 19 at 6:30 p.m. Henna expert Jamilah will teach teens the basics of henna and apply it to those who would like to experience her amazing designs. Space is limited. Register online or at the checkout desk.
- Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Golf Quest will have inflatable water slides onsite. Bring your bathing suit and towel. Get unlimited access to the slides for a low price.
- Free Kids Summer Concert Series at P.T. Barnum Square continues on Wednesday, July 20 with puppet shows, karaoke, music and dancing. This week's theme is Water Wonderland. Head to Bethel Town Green/P.T. Barnum Square at 5 p.m and bring a blanket to sit on. This event is free.
- Teens can stop in at the Brookfield Library to make a Wrapper Tote (a bag from recycled materials) on Thursday, July 21 at 4 p.m. Registration is required by phone or online.
- Bring the kids to Michael's Art and Crafts Passport to Fun for a creative learning experience on Thursday, July 21 at 11 a.m. Kids learn about the ancient world of Greece and create crafts including Grecian urns and Olympic torches. Suitable for children age three and up. The event is free, but certain crafts may require the purchase of a clay pot.
- The Very Hungry Artist is back at the Brookfield Library, on Thursday, July 21 at 2 p.m. This art class is designed for kids ages five to seven.
- Kids in grade three and up are invited to the Brookfield Library's Kids’ Night Out Book Club at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 21.
- Top Dead Center will perform on Friday, July 22 at the Brookfield Municipal Center as a part of the Summer Concert in the Park Series. The show will run from 6:30 p.m.to 8 p.m. Bring a blanket or beach chair, a picnic and enjoy an evening of music and fun.
- Enjoy a free viewing of How to Train Your Dragon at the Summer Movie Night at Candlewood Lake. The film begins at 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 23. A concession stand will be open before and during the movie. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket. For more information see Candlewood Lake.
