Get Ready for the Third Annual Brookfield Film Festival

This year will include the March 26 showing and two days of special workshop at WesConn.

The Brookfield Arts Commission is proud to present the third annual Brookfield Film Festival (BFF), to be held March 26, 2011. The annual festival was created to cultivate appreciation for independent filmmaking and to provide a local screening opportunity for residents to view short films.

In response to continued audience appreciation for the short film genre presented at both the 2009 and 2010 Brookfield Film Festivals, this year’s event will again showcase a series of film shorts.

The 2011 BFF, “Shorts and to the Point,” will include 10 short films that have been nominated for or received awards from other industry competitions and festivals.

The films will be showcased in three screenings, 1 p.m., 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday,

March 26, at the Brookfield Theatre for the Arts (TBTA). The specific short film selections will be announced at a later date. The program is not rated and is intended for an adult audience. Admission is $10 and refreshments will be served during intermission.

Seating is limited and reservations are suggested for the March 26 screenings. Reservations can be made through Friday, March 25, by calling Ann Amorossi at 203-775-2895. Any remaining tickets may be purchased on the day of the show at the theatre, as they become available.

In addition to the film presentation, the 2011 Brookfield Film Festival also includes "A

Production Challenge," a two-day workshop on digital/video production. Dr. J.C. Barone of

Western Connecticut State University (WCSU) will teach this interactive and hands-on workshop on the WCSU campus on Saturday, March 19, and Sunday, March 20, from noon until 6 p.m. The workshop is open to adults as well as students in their junior year of high school or beyond. The workshop will cover the fundamentals of production and no experience is necessary. The cost per person for the workshop is $25. Snacks, beverages and a "Production Challenge" t-shirt are included. Advanced registration is required for the March 19 and 20 Production Workshop and must be done by March 15, by calling Ray Dori at 203-775-2019.
