Irish Festival

Why Go: The 17th Annual Greater Danbury Irish Festival will feature an Irish Cultural Tent, vendors, entertainers, Irish beverage and food and a children's area with games and crafts. Musical guests include: The Mighty Ploughboys, The Highland Rovers, Celtic Cross Pipes and Drums, Fiona Malloy, Tipperary Knights, Ed Ryan, Keltic Kick, Barleyjuice, The Police Pipes and Drums of Waterbury, The Screaming Orphans, and Eileen Ivers & Immigrant Soul. The Gray School of Irish dance will perform.

Why Go: Reduce your risk of identity theft. Shred and destroy your confidential documents and personal files by the box full at the Newtown Savings Bank Brookfield Branch. All proceeds benefit Brookfield Social Services.

Battle of the Bands

Ladies Night of Burlesque

Why Go: Come out for a night with the girls. Inspired by the movie Burlesque and Christina's amazing performance in it, Kaysa and Mary Beth are creating a steamy evening with fun music, sassy attire and tantalizing fun. Learn the attitude, develop the class and sass that makes burlesque so seductive. Wear your favorite heels, a sparkly top, booty, shorts, fishnets or whatever floats your boat. There will be no nudity, just fun and fancy costumes.

Canoe/Kayak Race
When/Where: Sunday, September 25, 9 a.m. Town Park Beach, 500 Candlewood Lake Road, Brookfield
Why Go: Brookfield Park and Recreation, The Housatonic Valley River Trail, The Connecticut Water Trails Association, The Housatonic Valley Paddle Club and The Still River Alliance will be sponsoring the fifth annual Candlewood Lake Canoe and Kayak Race to benefit the Still River. This race was established to help raise monies to continue the environmental stewardship work and help to pay for maintaining the Still River since all funding at the local, state and federal level has been eliminated.
