Get Out to a Benefit or a Free Show

Auctions, Theatre, Talent Show and a Gala this weekend.

 

Bid of Brookfield

When/Where: Friday, March 18, 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Brookfield High School, 45 Long Meadow Hill Road, Brookfield
Why Go: Hosted by the Brookfield High School National Honor Society, the Bid of Brookfield is an auction open to anyone who wishes to participate. They will donate the money raised to Danbury Hospital's fund for a revamped Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Currently, the NICU provides specialized treatment for some 300 patients annually, and 11 percent of babies born at the hospital spend time there. An $8 million renovation project has been started, with the aim of adding improved equipment and more a comfortable, spacious environment (nearly four times larger) to provide an expansion of services for families and their newborns.  The BHS National Honors Society hopes to help the hospital in this endeavor to better the lives of newborns by raising money from their auction.

Price: $5 per person or $20 for families of four or more 

Dog Sees... Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead

When/Where: Friday, March 18, and Saturday, March 19, starting at 8 p.m. The Brookfield Theatre for the Arts, 182 Whisconier Road, Brookfield
Why Go: Catch the last weekend of this dark comedy in which the Peanuts gang members are growing up and now have to deal with High School and everything that goes with it including drugs, alcohol and teen bullying among others. Recommended for High School ages and up due to language and adult content. 

Price: $20 for adults, $15 for students with ID

All-Church Talent Show

When/Where: Saturday, March 19, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Congregational church of Brookfield, 160 Whisconier Road, Brookfield
Why Go: See the many talents of the church members and friends, and support the SYF Mission Team as they prepare to serve this summer at H.O.M.E. (Homeworkers Organized for More Employment) in Orland, Maine.

Price: Donation

Chamber of Commerce Anniversary Gala

When/Where: Saturday, March 19, 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Fox Hill Inn, 257 Federal Road, Brookfield
Why Go: Join the Brookfield Chamber of Commerce for their 5th Anniversary Gala. This year's theme is Mardi Gras, including open bar, dinner, dancing with "Bock and Blu," silent auction and the traditional grand prize.

Price: $90 per person

Classical Guitarist

When/Where: Sunday, March 20, 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Brookfield Library, 182 Whisconier Road, Brookfield
Why Go: A classical guitar concert by well-known guitarist Peter Fletcher.  Peter will perform works by Bach, Albeniz, and Villa-Lobos, among others.  Refreshments will follow the concert.
Price: Free admission, but donations are always welcome
