First Selectman Visits HHES Government Class

First Selectman meets with third graders to talk about local government.

Huckleberry Hill Elementary School (HHES) third grade students had a wonderful opportunity last week to attend a presentation given by Brookfield's First Selectman Bill Davidson. Davidson shared information about Brookfield's town government, described his role as well as that of other town officials and answered students' questions. It was truly a learning experience for everyone.

This assembly aligned with the HHES third grade social studies unit Government/Brookfield and was presented as part of the Schoolwide Enrichment Model (SEM), in which students are offered exposure to a variety of topics to peak their interest and spark further exploration. Follow-up activities will be provided for the students at the school.

Parents can also expand on this experience at home by asking your child what questions they brainstormed to ask First Selectman Davidson or having a discussion about Brookfield's town government.

Stay tuned for more of these kinds of opportunites at HHES.
